deathingraspAmazingThis is a fantastic podcast to educate oneself on exactly what is in this book…

skinnpuppylove itThis is great to binge, I love the hoasts’ interactions, theyre great for each other. Podcast is similar to Myths and Legends podcast, but with commentary about what they just read. Just give the first 20 minutes of episode 1 a listen, and if youre like me at all, this will be enough to hook you. I only wish they got a little more detailed with the stories. This podcast is a fantastic overview of each book in the bible, but a podcast that does more detailed stories with a similar attitude is “Bible Stories for Blasphemers”. Give both a listen!

kristen w 92Therapeutic podcast for former ChristianI grew up going to a reformed Presbyterian church where everything in the Bible was to be taken literally and considered historically accurate. I was always afraid to question the things that seemed a little wacky or down right messed up. As a former evangelical Christian and now atheist, I find Lauren’s perspective to be very relatable. Niko and Lauren are really fun to listen to and this podcast has been a therapeutic way for me to refresh my memory and dig a little deeper into all this crazy Bible stuff.

bigbuttslipnutGreat podcast with awesome hosts… too politicalI’ve been loving this podcast and have been feverishly binging it from the beginning. I do recognize this podcast is like 6 years old and the social context was incredibly different back then however the political commentary they go into once trump took office is why I took away a star. Other than that this is fun podcast that is giving me a new perspective on Christianity

libby89547BibleHaving grown up and attended PCA Presbyterian churches (in which the bible is an infallible and completely true book written by God using humans as tools) until my midlife crisis/awakening, This podcast is the perfect way to re“read” the bible from an outside perspective without having to actually re-read the bible. Thankyou Niko and Lauren for your hard work and dedication. I give this podcast 42 out of 42 broken jars of gnard.

xSamuel JohnxFeeling sane.Hilarious, refreshing, and thought provoking. I grew up religious and fully committed to ministry as a young adult. This podcast has been so healing for me. I also think strangers to the Bible would have a great time with this podcast. Also!? They cover the book of Enoch and other apocryphal works. Soooo good. I give this podcast 7 out of 6 secretly but also obviously misogynistic prophets.

Clarissa13Slow on the uptake!!I'm rating this show 5 out of 5 ancient zombie aliens! Never knew there were zombies, aliens, nor dragons in the Bible! I'm thoroughly enjoying your entertaining take on each book, even when they are snoozers for you. Too bad I started more than a year and a half post finale. Definitely recommended! 😇😁🧟👽🐉🐉

bmarrsLate to the gameI’m kind of glad I’m late to the game on this podcast. That way I can binge it all. I really appreciate this type of conversation on this Bible. It’s raw, real & without pro Christian biases.

lumolordOKDecent show. The smug atheism is a bit annoying but...

jveedsAmazing research...but, like, watch the verbal ticsThis is an amazingly well researched and well spoken podcast – a great combination of history, academics, archaeology, and amusing commentary. However (there’s always a however), our hosts need to, like, be careful about, like, some slightly annoying verbal like, tics, like. In “Masada“ I counted 40 “likes“ in the course of 10 minutes. So keep up the great work Lauren and Nico

The UmsThus sayeth the lord...“The earth was a bit more of internet and I had the best experience of the internet in my life but it is a good way for you.” Jeremiah or predictive text? You decide. Fantastic podcast. May your episodes be like the grains of sand in the desert or whatever.

EscobroSiloed ViewsListen to Unbelievable and Veritas Forum instead. This podcast has a very one-sided views and caricatures rational, well-meaning Christian. As a Christian, I realize some of that is deserved. But, at least bring in more diverse viewpoints. Bring on a Tim Mackie or the like. There are plenty of brilliant Christians. A couple of podcasts I highly recommend for intelligent, diverse conversations with opposing viewpoints are Unbelievable (Justin Brieley) and Veritas Forum.

Theoden Humphrey665 out of 666 Brothelytizing goonsThis is, in my opinion, the best podcast on the internet (which only didn’t get a perfect score because nobody is perfect because perfection, like God, doesn’t exist). I discovered it by random chance (OR MAYBE IT WAS THE HAND OF DESTINY???) when I was looking for my very first podcast to listen to, and it quickly became the only podcast I listened to, and the one I recommended to everyone who asked what they should listen to. (It even inspired me to make my own podcast, which no one should listen to.) Niko and Lauren bring everything to this podcast: their humor, their humanity, their intelligence, their dedication, their curiosity, their kindness, their creativity. They distill this incredibly complex and profound subject into episodes that are not only informative, insightful and interesting, but also entertaining and hilarious. They have great guests, and adorable and silly and fun additions to the main subject matter, and just do a wonderful job in every way. Plus Niko’s music slaps. Can’t wait to see what they do next. I will definitely be listening.

HodorTheTriumphantIt’s very goodI listened to every episode, and a couple of them twice. However, what impacted me the most wasn’t the text, (though I did learn a lot about that) it was the conversations about human experiences. In many ways, this is a light hearted podcast, but it tackles some heavy stuff. I didn’t grow up religious, but on completion of the podcast, I now have more empathy and I think more understanding for those who did. We’re all trying to get through life, and some of the same pressures act on all of us. It’s interesting how they produce both very similar and very different experiences in different contexts. Thank you to the hosts for sharing this. I am glad I listened to this.

Yeeooow666 out of 666 Golden CalvesLove this podcast and the hosts style and chemistry. I’m also a lifetime non-believing sort of Jew and struggled through much of the Bible several decades ago... more tedious than Moby Dick. This is a great refresher course and I love the idea that others can do the tedious work for me, give me the synopsis, and let me see their honest reaction to it. I also appreciate that I can go to hell without someone telling me how I HAVE to ‘interpret’ it; what I NEED to believe about it and how I HAVE to understand that these vile Iron Age goat herders were really the best folks god could come up with. Thanks for the wonderful podcast and I’ll see you both, along with all you 5 star reviewers, at the lake of fire. Oh yeah... don’t forget the tanning lotion.
-
Somgoth365 out of 5 Nasty Fig BoysThe rating would be higher but I couldn’t think of a bigger number. It’s sad so many Christians rate this 1 star because they were born without a sense of humor. Maybe if they were a little more open minded they might accidentally have some fun once in awhile. Like by listening to this podcast, for instance! I hope there will be more fun episodes to come.
-
hjsnisheusbzvsIt’s fine I guessI heard this mentioned on the Apocrypals podcast so I came to give it a listen, but I don’t love it. Poking fun at the bible can be a good time when you bring in historical context or actually have a discussion about it, but this isn’t really doing that. Not the most tone deaf atheist biblecast, not by far (and I think that’s what this has going for it!) But is anything new or interesting being brought to the table here? The same humor would honestly be fine if there was more research
-
FriedrichMalerGreat for armchair expertsThis podcast is hosted by the typical “I know enough to sound like I know what I’m talking about to people who don’t know what I’m talking about.” Find a resource that respects the topic addressed and has real expertise on it, Christian or not.
-
D 585 out 5 bronze snakesI was just introduced to this amazing podcast. Niko and Lauren are funny and their insights are great. I too grew up indoctrinated by the Southern Baptist church. The whole nine yards. Atheist since escaping their influences several years ago. Sunday school needed these frank discussions. Great job guys. Enjoying the podcast from the beginning.

John S in Colorado5000/5000 gentile foreskins taken in battleI found out about this podcast from a guest spot that Lauren did on the Flash Forward podcast. Lauren and Niko have wonderful chemistry and great senses of humor. I particularly like finding out about books that didn’t make into the Bible. Keep up the good work. -John

!scam alert!5 out of 5 Evil **** AngelsI just stumbled on this podcast today and I love these two! Perfect amount of blasphemy and theology discussion. I know what I’ll be listening to for the next 478 days of March 2020.

jamesdobsonsworstnightmare34 out of 34 Dugong SkinsThis podcast is one of my favorites. I’ve listened to the back catalog too many times to count, now. I'm constantly wondering how on earth I ever believed what I used to.

Lukas The DeadA fun way secular viewpoint7 out of 7 Oil Filled Baskets. Listen to a few epsidoes and you'll get the strange ratings people give. Lauren and Niko do a wonderful job taking you through each topic, but they've also done an amazing job making the show entertaining. There are jokes you get because you are a listener, you get excited for the blessing and cursing of pets, you get to know our hosts not just for their insights but for how they feel. It's like being at a table in a local coffee shop with some great friends.
-
MJENKGreat insightI love listening to the episodes where they go through the books of the Bible- especially as I go through the Bible in church . Christians that only listen to their own logic miss objectivity. This podcast really makes you think - very very good!

TeacherA-a-ron8/8 Heartwarming giggles by LaurenI wanted to say I am not too far into the series but then realized I’m about 19 hours into it and it dawned on my that I’ve spent more time with Lauren and Niko than I have with my girlfriend this month. This is a fantastic listen and I’ve appreciated Sunday School Dropouts as my most in depth introduction to the Bib-le. I came for a relatable exploration of the Bible and stayed for Lauren’s heartwarming giggles when she’s not having to read lists or recount the blame placed on women; which unfortunately is far too much but don’t blame them, blame the Bible man. I’m looking forward to continuing and finishing the series with Lauren and Niko who feel a lot like friends now. Highly suggest! - Aaron, no known relation to Moses

AriostoFeraExcellent critical review of the bibleThis has become my favorite podcast. It is a humorous yet critical review of the bible, including apocrypha and ancillary texts and superstitions. It may be offensive to those who hold the bible as a source of absolute truth, yet will be a useful companion for those who seek to parse the good and bad, the legend and the historical truth in the holy text. I would like to thank both podcasters for their extraordinary work.
-
iTunes-HRHilariousI love how the first minute of the first episode they say they are not here to make fun of the Bible...then proceed to make a podcast making fun of the Bible.
-
hrutodTLDRThe Bible is just too long. In the future everything will be podcasted by charming people like Lauren and Nico.

Amycita33Finally get to post a review!I had my review in the Peruvian iTunes Store, but now that I’ve switched I can finally rate and review my favorite podcast! I never really listen to podcasts because I usually prefer to listen to music, but this podcast has changed my life! Love Lauren and Niko, love learning without actually having to do much. I listen to it on my walks to and from work and laugh alone like a crazy person! It’s the best! I then arrive at work to have interesting conversations with my evangelical office manager, who does her best to explain all the contradictions in the Bible! Happy to have something to relate with her now. Rating: 33/33 goatfriends

Hard to InspireNot a reliable source of infoWhat you would expect from an ex Sunday School teacher... uneducated, biased, out of context, and riddled with ethnocentric opinion. I wish I liked it more, but it’s just kind of ridiculous to listen to.
-
HaloZeroFun to listenIf you're looking for a discourse on the Bible and a full understanding of it it's not very good but nobody is selling that. I give them 13/13 angry writers who need to stop adding misogynstic content to the bible.
-
Avery BlowsVulgar waste of timeWhy spend so much time and energy on something you don’t believe? Certainly, there are more productive uses for your time. Beyond that, very dry and boring presentation.
-
cheapazzWhat you’d expect.........if something like Stormfront did a podcast on the holocaust or African tribal history. In short, their bias is obvious.
-
jEffigy33A Good IdeaI love the idea of the show but the constant attempts at humor are awful! The banter is obnoxious & the hosts are just NOT funny though they are always laughing at their terrible jokes. Good idea, terrible execution.
-
SweetOrbMaceJust what I needed to knowFilling all the holes in my sketchy bible knowledge. Rating 9 out of 9 cursed cat lives
-
jamespinaFunnyIt’s good overall insightful at times but history is not there best subject. It’s funny to hear them talk about the ridiculous things in the Bible.
-
ChibiSilverWingsFunny and Smart! Both of the hosts are funny and share both their own experience with religion and scholarly info. The show has given me some great laughs and a lot to think about. It’s not for biblical literalists, but it sure is great biblical lit crit.
-
Fred Fire-SteinGreat for Bible scholars and newbies alike!Even though I attended a Christian college after years of Sunday School, they provide a different perspective which is very interesting. I am only half joking. 😀 Really, the mix of humor and honest commentary makes it worth listening even if you think you know the Bible.
-
renenutetaJust the right tone! They do an excellent job, just what I was looking for.

bspengPutting the protest back in protestant; the cat back in catholic.GD-it! Listen to this entire podcast: two oracles read stuff left in a very dry cave. i was raised catholic-ish so there was never a reason to read a (the) bible. seems odd at 60yo to say "huh, i'm not a christian." seems odd that 1500 years in, an act of man, transmogrifies the inerrant word of God, but, that's a story for a different day. i, you, will love the repartee. btw, i also have a beard. just sayin'.

CWWConnor37 out of 37 biblical murderbearsBinged the entire podcast when I found it. Lauren and Niko are great and interesting hosts, who make an often boring and repetitive book interesting, have guest appearances that both are entertaining and bring in interesting perspectives, and really taught me a lot about bibble. Cannot recommend this podcast highly enough, it’s made me laugh so hard my chest hurt. Hope New York is treating them well.

RelsPhD5 out of 5 unblemished male goat votive offeringsStill catching up on back episodes, but so far I give this 5 out of 5 unblemished male goat votive offerings!
-
Bride of the House Catit's a good podcast and you will probably like itTwo lovely people who are in love talk about Bibbel. They bring a mix of historical context, literary analysis, and irreverance to this G.D. book and make it fun and entertaining without being dicks to peole who do believe. Also it's very accessible to people with little or no religious background, which is nice. RATING: 69 OUT OF 69 NASTY NASTY FIG BOIS

Matt H_9416One of My Favorite PodcastsSunday School Dropouts has two charming hosts and interesting content that consistently sort of learned me a thing. I rate this podcast 1252 out of 1253 Lilith demon babies.

Lady ZippyWay better than going to actual church! The hosts are charming and adorable. I love this podcast almost as much as the Israelites loved worshipping Baal.

ren bin5 out of 5 tricky Moabite women!Just started listening and I am enthralled! These two are adorable, smart and hilarious. An amazing learning experience! And the lesson? The Bible is berserk, profound, sexist, poetic, contradictory, and more!
