Perry Mason

79

Perry Mason is a fictional defense attorney who originally appeared in detective fiction by Erle Stanley Gardner. This long running radio drama had several actors who played the famous lawyer starting with Bartlett Robinson and then followed by Santos Ortega, Donald Briggs, and finally John Larkin who played the famous attorney after 1947.The radio portrayal of Perry Mason is a far more involved lawyer then the one who became famous on TV, the radio version would rather swap gunshots with evildoers than sit in a boring courtroom, waiting for the deliberation! The show was only 10 minutes and was more intense and favored action than courtroom drama. Perry Mason ran 12 seasons and moved to TV in the late 1950's with the now famous portrayal by Raymond Burr. Each show follows a continues story line similar to soap operas. Join us as we join Perry Mason in crime mysteries and court room drama.

    All out of order
The episodes are out of order and They don’t get to the conclusion of each story

    Episodes incomplete
None of the episodes are complete. They start in the middle and stop before the story ends. I cannot recommend this podcast

    Very Disappointing
Raymond Burr and Barbara Hale may be in the photo, but not in any of these podcasts, which are all early radio shorts. That's just deliberately misleading. Anyway, they don’t even come close to the quality of the drama and acting on the later TV show.

    Too bad
If the episodes were in order it would have been a lot of fun--I should have read the other reviews before I downloaded them. We were listening to the podcasts as we drove and part way through one storyline it skipped to another. The episodes need specific titles or info like "The Case of the One-Eyed Witness part 1 of 8".

    inconsistent
Humphrey needs to get his act together. I love old time radio and used to buy the tapes whenever they became available. It's super that a producer wants to bring back radio when it was "live" and an era when you could listen for hours at a time. But the sound is poor, inconsistent, and not worthy of current technology when these issues can be resolved. Do better and you will have many more listeners.

    Where's the end?
I can't believe I've listened to 12 episodes and finally coming to the end and it's nowhere to be found....it is so disappointing!! I guess I'll stick with Poirot.

I keep waiting for the next release
When the podcast started I was excited because I'm a big Perry Mason fan. At the beginning there were problems with discontinued story lines and my shattered illusions. Everything has been great since the Mae Grant story and I have a hard time waiting for the next installment. Whenever a new one comes out, it is the first podcast that I listen to. I just wish that they came out more frequently. They are short and that allows me to always fit it into my schedule whenever I see a new podcast.

    Lack of continuity
Help! Just when Perry is about to defend Della and himself on kidnapping charges against the slimy prosecutor Murtaw, just at the climax of this complicated tale, the episodes switch from this engrossing story to the Honeymoon Murder! I lose interest in pursuing any other perry mason pods, because i've never been able to hear a complete story from beginning to end! At least give us a warning!

Episodes not in order, sound quality degrades
I'm a long-time fan of Perry Mason from ESG's books and the classic TV show. But, other than the chance to experience the radio show version of Perry Mason, this podcast was a disappointment. The first episode picks up mid-story and continues through episode 12 with decent sound quality. But, before the story concludes, the next three episodes are of other stories, again beginning mid-stream and ending without a conclusion. Sound quality is degraded, but still okay. Episode 16 picks up with yet another new story, which appears to continue throught the current episode, but the sound quality is so poor, I gave up.

    Episodes lack continuity
The first several episodes (12) of the serial are quite well done (clear recordings) and engrossing. However, prior to the conclusion, it goes off the rails and picks up with a different episode. Subsequent episodes seem to be all over the map with a hodgepodge of cases. I'd pass on subscribing as too many episodes leave the listener hanging.
