Next Door Strangers

30

From public radio station KUER and journalist Andrea Smardon, Next Door Strangers is a 6-episode series about finding connection in a time of division. We don’t know if this is going to work, but we’re hoping you can help. Each episode ends with a challenge where we ask you to think about your part in all of this, and maybe even change things. It might take you out of your comfort zone, but maybe that’s exactly what we need right now.

    Conversation Elevated
Andrea Smardon is our own, local Sarah Koenig. I feel the same for Andrea as I do for Doug Fabrizio and Pat Bagley—please don’t move or retire. Your voices help make sense of our little piece of the planet.

I found something I was missing
I’m so glad that I listened to this podcast. It’s so easy to feel isolated or apart in our polarized society today but this helped me feel hope in my ability to connect with the people around me even if we disagree. Such a good listen.

Andrea Smardon does an excellent job of shining a light on societal and personal division and challenges us to rethink the standoffs. Excellent storytelling, heartfelt and important. Podcasting at its best.

Embracing change for the better of everyone
I’ve just listen to one episode so far and I’m hooked. This podcast is insightful and thought-provoking. What I love most about it is that it challenges me to be more than just a passive listener on an interesting subject. It asks me the listener to change a habit in my life so that I can be part of the positive change this podcast espouses.

    Timely
The first episode is timely as all of us need to take a step back and really think about how we relate to other. It made me start to think about how I relate to people who are in different tribes than I am. I am looking forward to the continuing dialogue that has been started. It is valuable to our society, our democracy and our future.

    Makes you think
Listening to the first episode, I found myself returning back to think about the way political problems don't get solved frequently. Working on my listener challenge now!
