jc17_AceA Great Contextual Doctor Who PodcastRob and Dave put together a great show here. Much like a DVD box set you come for the main show and stick around for the bonus extras. There’s some really good stuff to enjoy from two guys steeped in the classic era of Doctor Who and its always just about the episodes - there are discussions on writers, books, audios, and even old stage plays. Check out their 60th anniversary episode on their respective fan experiences which is just a delight.

ZapringoA Fantastic PodcastI only recently began listening to this show after hearing one of the hosts on another podcast Id been enjoying (Pull to Open with Pete Pachal and Chris Taylor), and I have been absolutely loving it. These two are two wonderfully knowledgable and open-minded fans, willing to give any piece of Doctor Who media fair and measured analysis, even the bits they dislike or dont care much for. Im particularly impressed by their ability to express these negative views without any needlessly inflammatory rhetoric. I would go so far as to call Rob and Dave the Siskel and Ebert of the Doctor Who fandom, a duo I can trust to have interesting and engaging conversation on any topic they so desire to cover (Not to mention the “Alternate Galaxies” line discussing other sci-fi and fantasy such as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings; the excitement I felt when it was revealed that this would be Dave’s first time seeing the films was like Christmas morning!) I would rate 6 stars if such a rating wouldnt render the entire scale meaningless. Keep up the exceptional work, and much thanks for providing such an excellent show!

Field753FrustratedIn the recent Power of the Doctor review I was frustrated by Dave’s reaction to Rob’s views on the episode. I was agreeing with Rob’s views point by point and found it a cathartic listen. Dave interrupted a few times and even seemed be somewhat scolding Rob for his views. Dave seemed to be trying to exert his views and to frame the conversation the way he wanted it to go. Don’t mean to cause dissension within the podcast, but this was noticed and was a little frustrating to hear. Having said that… Still the best Doctor Who podcast there is.
