Chuck in San DiegoViews on documentaryI enjoy your podcast and listening to your thoughtful views on tennis. I do however feel you missed the mark on your analysis of the Guillermo Vilas documentary. One, the film presents an depth perspective on one of the most interesting and important persons in tennis history that helps provide an understanding of the real person behind this ranking rather than a generic presentation of a former tennis player wanting to be recognized for the number one ranking. Two, many of the scenes are emotional and heartfelt such as Borg’s opinion that Vilas should have received the top ranking. Your negative opinion of the film totally failed to recognize these aspects of the documentary. Finally I thought you could have mentioned Rod Laver’s view that perhaps the ATP didn’t recognize Vilas as number one in the 1970s because he wasn’t American and didn’t represent the ATP in a way that reflected their marketing goals for the game. Perhaps you could address all of these points in a future podcast? Thanks for listening.

Moderate to Severe Tennis FanIan HoffmanI really like these guys. They know tennis and get into details about the sport and the tours and analytics that one would never pick up one in hundreds of hours of tennis television watching. It's a good day when there is a new episode in my feed. Sound quality was improved beginning in 2019 and the weird thing where 15s of audio was constantly repeated at end of show was eliminated too. Now it's perfect.

EZAceMachineLuscious, mouth-watering, velvety #analysis!I am subscribed to maybe fifteen or so tennis podcasts, and each fulfills a role in the firmament. These guys are super clean and focused, and even though their ridiculously well-informed 'opinions' are prone to error, cloudiness, and bias just as much as anymortal who follows tennis obsessively and minutely, at least they are aware of the imperfections of their data driven #analysis and tend to revert to their mean, which is the best tennis podcasting bang for the by-the-minute buck. Concise. Pithy. Crisp. I like many other tennis podcasts for opposite placing on the spectrum of time/'value' so don't take my word for it, take home a copy of The Tennis Abstract Podcast today!
