Great show - really miss it!
Fun and silly as well as really interesting discussion - this podcast is fantastic. Stacie Ponder provides great cultural commentary and i really hope she does another podcast - hopefully with a cohost who has an interest in, and a grasp of, film history.

    Someone muzzle this guy!
There’s so much to love about this podcast. Unfortunately, the guy’s narcissism / mania results in him monopolizing every conversation, interrupting and rambling non-stop (with very little to actually say). The girl ends up not being able to get a word in, yet seems to have genuine insight (and some hilarious jokes) to contribute. What a frustrating waste of potential.

    Came for the horror…
Stayed for the laughs! 🫣 😆

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE !
Stacie and Anthony, y’all are the light of my life. Wish I’d known about this sooner… as here I am listening to the Halloween BANGS 😭😭 episodes in November, 2023! I heard about this pod from Stacie’s appearance on evolution of horror and gosh- what a gift. What a true gift. The pair of these two is pure magic. Hilarious, original… I mean this show is Everything. Not to get too intense here but I’ve been battling pretty severe depression and haven’t laughed in ages…. Until I began binge listening to these older episodes… truly feels like it’s bringing me back to life and reminding me that it still find joy in things. Thank you, sincerely… for everything 🖤

    Hysterical
The chemistry, the taste, the silliness, Anthony’s iconic “Wipeout” laugh…simply the best Horror pod around. 5 stars!

    Thank you Gaylords of Darkness
I wrote the movie “MA” and your praise made me feel as happy as Sue Ann pushing teenagers down the stairs. Congratulations on the great podcast! Thanks always and never drink alone.

    What a pair!
These two get me giggling out loud every episode. I love their dynamic! The movie reviews, gaming reviews and Housewives content is all just a bonus. ❤️

    The best podcast bar none.
So smart, so funny, so engaging! If only they talked about Suspiria more though.

    Love
Everything that SJP and Hudso keep putting out. Lifetime Movie Month has been an intersection of interests that has made my November enjoyable and hilarious. I work early mornings, and the laughter of these two keep my head high throughout it, without weed juice.

    My new favorite podcast
I’m now currently binging every episode and it’s been nonstop laughs. As a lonely, tired, and stressed college student you both are life savers. Stan

    Favorite queer horror show
Every episode is brilliant! I started listening after Anthony presented a virtual queer horror lecture at the SIFF. The hosts have such an amazing knowledge of pre-1990s films that most other horror podcasts are missing, and I’ve gotten to watch some new favorites as a result: Daughters of Darkness, Prom Night II, Amityville: The Evil Escapes (HAUNTED FLOOR LAMP). This podcast is clever and nuanced while remaining super accessible. Also: literally the only good take on Sleepaway Camp from non-trans people. I recommend this podcast constantly—thank you for being here and filling my little QT heart with joy.

    So…Stacy isn’t briefcase lady?

    Can’t beat “Mamamoo”, but…
They’re the best horror movie podcast in the business, period. I was stuck in the hospital for some time last year (TL;DR almost died, fine now) and listening to Goody Ponder and Dame Anthony really kept my spirits up when I was bed-bound and too weak to do anything else. They’re always funny, always insightful, and I’ve discovered so many new favorites (as well revisited old favorites) thanks to them. From my Gaylord heart to yours, you have my sincerest gratitude. Keep on choppin’, L.

I’m no DJ witch, but I also love the Gaylords
I found this podcast shortly after seeing 2018’s ‘Suspira’ and I instantly fell in love. I also thought for a very long time that briefcase woman was Stacey, and was also fooled again by other Stacey Ponder. Anyways, come for the commentary and stay for the in-jokes and non-binary executioners.

One of my fav podcasts. I love the deep dive into queer topics with hilarity. I also love the chopping block segment. It’s one of my absolute favorites. I just want y’all to review Raw or Titane bc I need y’all to experience these works of art with QUEENS and written and directed by a QUEEN

    Perfection
Somehow simultaneously insightful, hilarious and truly absurd at times, I now watch movies in order to listen to this podcast - I can only be told to pause the episode and go watch the movie so many times. I could not love them more.
  • D0rk_Nxt_D00r
    Wonderful. Groundbreaking. Confounding.
All words I would use to describe this incredible podcast. Stacie & Anthony bring to you insights and delight for films both classic and less than classic every week. If you are someone who enjoys horror, laughter, and Kyle Richard’s bangs in Halloween Kills then I cannot recommend this podcast enough.
  • fkkbaker
    My absolute favorite podcast
Every time I watch a horror movie, I frantically search the back catalog of this podcast to see if Stacie and Anthony covered it. I just need a good queer feminist debrief after every movie now. Thanks for getting me through quarantine!
  • CSquared85
    Fave feminist horror podcast
Quarantining solo for COVID has been a bummer, but I always feel like I’m among friends when I listen to the Gaylords. Stacie and Anthony crack me up and I enjoy that they celebrate and analyze both high-brow (Saint Maud) and low-brow horror (Amityville: The Evil Escapes) with the same verve and enthusiasm. Thanks to their consistent glowing praise I finally gave in and watched Guadagnino’s Suspiria and OMG was I a doofus for holding out so long.
  • Hey_Steve
Two generous geniuses sharing their wealth of humor and insight!
Best horror podcast (full stop.) I never thought I could regularly listen to a more free form style of podcast but I heard that Gaylords had a terrific queer take on Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria so I decided to take a leap and listen.....and I haven’t stopped listening since. Stacie and Anthony work queer feminist magic on any subject they choose from eggs to Messiah of Evil. They are insightful, ridiculous, marvelous, hilarious and kind. I really haven’t encountered this much intelligent warmth consistently in any format ..ever.

    One little suggestion ...
Stacie and Anthony are fabulous! Hysterically funny, super knowledgeable. 5/5 would recommend. However, the one thing that impedes my perfect enjoyment is that the sound levels are so regularly horrible. If it’s loud enough to hear stacie well, my eardrums are bleeding when Anthony laughs. Pretty please can ya kidnap a magical techie and chain them up in your basement or something? Love and kisses, yr biggest fan. :)

    A magnificent, funny, endearing podcast
Stacie (Goodie) Ponder and Anthony (Storytime!) Hudson are a dynamic duo, to say the least. Their ending self-description identifies the show as “loosely structured, yet informative,” which sells the show short, as you should know that Gaylords of Darkness is quite a perfect blend of humor, insight, same-braining and championing the underrepresented and flat out silenced. If you are unfamiliar with their output, I recommend their standalone episode, “The Ethics of Fandom,” which avoids the Tweet-length blather of outrage (and less than such) over Joe Bob Briggs’s’s’s scree(ch) about the LGBTQ acronym, for they delve into the deeper issues of the business of horror, which is the business of media, and the larger concerns about who gets platforms and who of course provides those platforms. As a queer, feminist podcast, the Gaylords bring us viewpoints we need more of, rather than the Tell It Like It Is-ness of crusty white men. So if you REALLY want to get into the meat of where the Gaylords are truly magnificent, check out episode 107 on The Shining—more so, how they not only stand up (utterly convincingly) for Wendy as the true center of the movie, but also for Shelley Duvall (for me, her Olive Oyle is the closest one will ever get to seeing a cartoon in the flesh). The Gaylords represent, and they represent HARD, for transformational views of horror and who the genre truly speaks to. Another magnificent episode is their discussion of The Descent. And with all that insight comes truly funny interplay between the two. I have to generally make sure I’m alone when I listen, because the amount of times I giggle and laugh out loud at their wit and camaraderie already makes me look like a potentially psychotic driver. Still, there is little else I like better to listen to while doing my quarantine stationary bike routine. Thanks to both these brilliant minds for coming together and offering us such output.

Came for my love of Suspiria, but now i look forward to every Wednesday its my favorite podcast! I adore cackling in traffic while people look over in concern. Death to all the other horror podcasts
Thank you, thank you, thank you for featuring Suspiria on the podcast and talking about it in such a passionate, thought-provoking, and insightful way. Listening to your episodes on this movie (in particular) has felt like coming home. And like I’m not the only weirdo freak out there who thinks about this movie 24/7! Keep up the amazing work.

Where have you been all my life?
I recently found this podcast and I am dipping back in to past episodes. I love it and I really apppreciate that they recognize Chris Higgins from Friday the 13th 3D as an exceptional final girl.

Come for the insightful queer absurdity, stay for the numerous mentions of toast and multiple episodes dedicated to the Suspiria remake.

    Awesome podcast
This is a great podcast with many laugh out loud moments. Whether you’re an avid horror fan or just a fan of movies and pop culture in general, it’s well spent time. Past the laughter I am truly learning a lot....check this one out.

    “Tay in the wiiind.”
I was hooked when the hosts went on aside about their equal admiration for Jennifer Tilly. I was *really* hooked when they made a reference to Jodie Foster while discussing, “Suspiria.” Definite Trixie & Katya vibes, in a good way. Thanks you two!

    I am complete
Listening to Stacie and Anthony talk about Suspiria is my new drug of choice. I can’t believe I only discovered this podcast a month ago, because WOW, what an absolute gift it is.
  • BrianDBolin
    I vote...STACORIUM!
If Stacy and Anthony did nothing other than validate my love of Suspiria 2018 and my deeply held belief that it is a masterpiece, this would already be my favorite podcast. But they’re also funny, insightful and have the best taste. This show warms my gay heart. Long live Debra Hill!
  • PacoTaco92
    *screeches in Debra Hill*
After about a hundred episodes of Suspiria mentions, I finally got to watch the remake last week. I was overcome with such joy by the end that I didn’t even mind when my gay bf tore off his face to reveal that he was a Tilda Swinton the whole time! Thanks for teaching me the Volk, Stacie and Anthony!
  • Scarebrarian
    Love It!
I made the mistake of listening to several episodes today while completing some outdoor chores. At various time I was talking back to our hosts and laughing so hard I doubled over. My neighbors were concerned. In all seriousness, I’ve long been a fan of Stacie’s writing and humor, and I’m a newly converted fan of Anthony Hudson. I’m so glad this podcast exists, but my neighborhood association probably added me to some kind of list.
  • pknail
Stacie and Anthony decorate my life!
I've been a long time reader of Final Girl, and I'm so glad Stacie started a podcast. She and Anthony are so knowledgable and thoughtful and HILARIOUS, and my week is not complete if I haven't been stared at by strangers for laughing out loud to myself while listening.
  • GrayPyre
    SO GOOD!!
Anthony's cackle is just everything and Stacie is almost as awkward with human interaction as I am which is just glorious! They make me laugh so hard I may die from it and I don't even care!
  • Halgrltn
Sheriff, a funny podcast has come to your little town
I LOVE this podcast! I’ve been reading “Final Girl” for years, and love that Stacie finally has a show. Anthony is equally hilarious. Listening to them reminds me of being in high school.
