BvlleAnnYear 5!Leigh’s talks are SO informative and helpful. Her advice has served as well and guided us to up to over 20 colonies including selling bees and raising queens. Thank you Leigh!!. From 2021 our 1st year:Leigh helped make the challenge of the 1st year easier to understand. Some topics are over our heads but as we are committed we like hearing about what is coming. Love the great attitude. Some episodes are so important to our 1st year we have listened several times. She is so real sharing her experiences and passion that you can’t help wanting to bee-friend her!

AAONSMEpisode 101Leigh, As usual, you have provided the perfect information at the perfect time! I am going to try Ang Roell’s runaway split today. I am leaving town and won’t be home to perform the ten day queen cell cut down requirement for your preferred split recipe. Thanks again for your great, timely advice! Mary

CkswabashaMNSoothing, practical, sustainable bee informationReally appreciate anyone willing to share their bee expertise and this podcast is amazing. Leigh is polite, grounded, and gets to the nitty gritty. She promotes other bee podcasts and sources of information. High yield listening. Leigh I like when you read articles! Thanks, from Minnesota

drdrdeniseAmazing bee keeping infoSo glad I found this podcast! I am a second year beekeeper and I am learning so much. My bees overwintered beautifully here in PA but this spring has been more challenging than my first year. Her approach is broad and reminds us that we have to work with nature and the bees, rather than try to control them. She is a wonderful teacher and guide. Her approach is welcoming and encouraging, and she explains all the details and when it comes to hive management, while emphasizing that there is generally no right or wrong, simply different variations. Love this podcast!!

Paula DanielsKnowledgeable, informative beekeeping podcastLeigh is such a wonderful teacher of beekeeping. I’ve learned a great deal as a 3rd year beekeeper from this podcast and look forward to every episode, even the “reading” episodes. So much information and knowledge in each episode!!
-
melmor800So glad I found this podcast!Leigh is easy to listen to and understand. She delivers information starting with broader concepts and dials in to explain the details. Her non-judgmental perspective is refreshing. Highly recommend.
-
ApisAdamWholesome and practicalThis is one of the best beekeeping podcasts I’ve listened to. It’s refreshing to hear Leigh’s voice, which is so wholesome and comforting. It’s nice to hear about beekeeping from a woman’s perspective as well. The information is delivered ad lib, so it feels more like being in the presence of a mentor than hearing a formal presentation. Leigh, I appreciate what you do. Your advice has helped me in so many ways.
-
PmahaffeyGreat informationI’m so glad I found this podcast. As a brand new beekeeper I have learned so much from this podcast. Always look forward to the next installment

dsfan913Fantastic for the New BeekeeperI am starting with my first 2 hives this spring and have been reading and watching everything I can! I posted on the Barnyard Bees FB group to see if anyone knew of any good beekeeping podcasts. I am a pest control technician and am able to listen a lot more than I can read or watch during my day. The most recommended show was Beekeeping at Five Apple Farm! I caught this just in time as the host Leigh had just recently put up the second episode of her new bee school episodes! Well since that I have binge listened and caught up on all the previous episodes! I LOVE this podcast! There are some topics that I know I don’t need to know about yet but it was all still so fascinating! I don’t know what I am going to do now while I wait for new episodes! Leigh admits to a low cost production and it couldn’t be more fitting for this podcast. As a podcaster myself (co-host of Word on the Main Street Podcast), her delivery and information are top notch. Unlike Phillip, I thoroughly enjoy her readings of articles and book reviews as well as her own commentary! Keep it up Leigh! You have a loyal listener here in Riverdale, Utah!
-
EsiefkerGreat podcast!I could sit and listen to bee talk all day every day, but Leigh is especially easy to listen to and packs her podcasts full of useful information.
-

-
annahowelThank you for helping New Beekeepers! In the last year I started keeping bees with my uncle, who, though seasoned, has had a lot of trouble with overwintering. Your podcast has offered a lot of information and encouragement to help our bees survive the upcoming winter. And probiotics! it makes so much sense, I’m excited to see if the results. We love love love your podcast! -Anna

with MJPTony PrestoJust finished listening to the two podcasts on hive inspection. A thought I kept running into was my poor attempts at preparing for an inspection. I pull off that super ( it’s heavy) now where to place it? On the ground? It’s full of bees! No Queen excluder, wow my Queen may be inside! Now after working through that I pull my first frame... end frame, quick look no Queen. Again where to put that frame. Set it on the ground? No... where is that frame rest? Bottom line... try to be prepared before you start. All my best laid plans get frazzled when I rush into the inspection Ill-prepared. Suggest a comment or two on where to place these items minimizing crushing bees, losing the Queen, etc... and Lord help me when I whoops, drop a frame of bees! What to do now.. Thanks and keep the Poscasts coming.
-
Barrett7:4Cozy podcastThat’s what I feel when I listen to your podcast... Cozy. I’m going into my second year of a backyard apiary and what you present is just right for my level. I have a great mentor who helps keep me on track and introduces new things each time we inspect the hives. In an effort to soak up all I can find, across all mediums (avoiding YouTube) your podcast just feels right. Thanks Leigh and keep up the good work.
-
Jeff in ElonAlways a good listenThank you Leigh for taking the time to provide such great information. I appreciate your perspective and presentation style. Keep it real..no need to be pristine or fancy.
-
Jes SKExcellent podcast for beeks of any experience level!I’m a third year beekeeper in Salt Lake City, Utah. I recently downloaded an episode of every beekeeping podcast I could find, and yours is the one I keep coming back to. I appreciate the knowledge you are sharing and also your gentle approach and the way you navigate the many strong and differing opinions in the beekeeping world. Thank you for putting your voice out there.
-
mtsbezYou’re marvelousThanks for this podcast! I’ve been looking for this and didn’t know it! Thank you!
-
Jen'sBsSuch great tips!I honestly look forward to listening in each week to catch the new interesting topic Leigh has for us. Just starting out myself, but I am amazed by these creatures! I find that this podcast highlights topics in detail with firsthand experience tips that will help me out along the way. This girl is taking notes! Thanks Leigh-from another NC beek!
-
DguytyHelpful And Well ExplanationsThe host explains everything from different levels of experience. My favorite beekeeping podcast!!!!
-
Rob_BakersvilleHonest Bee TalkHaving someone give an honest talk about Bees is refreshing. People might not agree with everything she says, but that is why we are all different and learning. Every Beekeeper has an opinion about what to do and new beekeepers need to listen and learn. Thank You Leigh.
-
jyakimFlow HiveYour comments about the flow hive just turned off a whole group of new Beekeepers.
-
Rogue26Great ListenPleasantly surprised by the find and found myself wishing at the end of each one that they were longer than 30 minutes. Thanks
-
BeePappyGreat informationI listed to my first Five Apple Farm Podcasts and really enjoyed the listen. Great information shared in an easy to follow and understand method. No judgements on whether or not a keepers hive had swarmed, just how to deal with the situation and make lemonade from being given lemons. Great information on splits and the dynamics involved, how to, why to and when to. Can't wait to give the other podcasts a listen.
-
Irish ApeThanksGood content, good teacher. You seem to capture a lot of the details most people leave out. Enjoying your podcasts!
-
Ole Man DuncanGreat Find!!!I’m going to finally get some bees this spring and after looking for a simple no nonsense podcast this one popped up and I’m so happy it did. The first episode has some weird buzzing in the background but as of this review, the next three, are fine. I like Leigh’s honesty and openness about how what she is stating is opinion not fact. I can’t wait to hear what she has in store for future episodes!!
-
HillpoetNice! It’s great to hear Leigh talk bees in language I understand and can enjoy even as a non-beekeeper (but Beekeeper’s keeper!)
