So I watched THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE and was writing a bit about it and needed some recap action, and maybe a little affirmation that I was reading it right. Well, thank goodness for Disaster Girls because this was the Poseidon pod I needed to hear. Funny, personable, great chemistry between hosts. So much fun. I want my podcast to be as good as this.

Fantastic podcast, but it drops down to a four-star because they talk politics. Please let us just enjoy the movie and podcast for entertainment seek.

Disaster movies genre is interesting. I just love listening to the conversation and the deep dive into what the movie is really about. The fan casting is best part.

When I found this podcast I went back and found a movie that I love and have seen a lot. Within the first couple minutes listening to it I was like “I found my people”. Been watching disaster movies and coming back to listen ever since. The fan casting segments are my favorite!! I have gone back and listened to some of my favorites multiple times!! Highly recommend this one!!

Seriously, I discovered this pod essentially by accident because one of the hosts was on another pod and plugged one of her other pods there and I followed the thread down and it’s quickly become my favorite listen. Wish I’d had it at the beginning of the pandemic rather than the end. If you’ve watched 1997’s Volcano or better yet 2003’s The Core more than once or more like six or seven times, this show is for you.

Where has this podcast been all my life? Listening to them discuss disaster and killer animal movies is like winning the lottery, if the lottery had killer bees. 5 out of 5 Towering Infernos.

I always have a hard time finding something to listen to while I’m at work. Especially when finding a good quality podcast. Sometimes their audio is horrible, other times the host(s) are annoying. Imagine my surprise when I happened upon this particular show, one that combines my love of movies, and natural disasters! The hosts are wonderful and hilarious to listen to, and they really have a way of spinning each synopsis onto a different angle that really makes you think. Always a good time listening! 5/5 Towering Infernos, you guys!

I enjoy any review on cheesy, disaster movies and shows. I’ve only dipped into the La Brea reviews so far. But man the amount of talking over one another is excruciating and beginning to be a chore to get through. I can understand the ‘don’t like, don’t listen’ but still giving it time. So far….one star.

This show is great. Amanda and Jordan are so fun to listen to as the discuss and dissect the disaster movie genre. Come for the disasters, stay for the extended Charmin Bear/ Ray Liotta rants, disaster child adoption theories and Shelly Winters worship. The unofficial La Brea podcast until NBC stops being cowards. Love the show!

The amount of work that goes into each episode really shows. This is a fun, fast paced podcast that is well worth everyone trying it out.

Worst podcast I’ve ever listened to. Amanda Smith is a terrible human whose parents should be disappointed. The problem with the world is we allow people like her to have a microphone. No one likes Amanda smith.

Why isn’t this the official podcast of La Brea? NBC, what are you even doing? I would have watched one, maybe two, episodes of La Brea before giving up on it, but listening to this Podcast has made it 10,000 times more enjoyable, and now I am hooked. I am not a podcast person, but I love this podcast. As soon as I heard them start analyzing the feasibility of insuring a dinosaur theme park in the Jurassic Park episode I knew this was something special. Thank you for this gift to the world!

Disaster Girls has been a really solid plan for the next year. I love it and it seems like a baby shower baby.

I happened upon this podcast, and went to the episode about my favorite disaster movie “The Towering Inferno.” The vapid and inane discussion was less about the movie and more about the podcasters’ warped view of the world. Tons of smug commentary about how other people are racists and sexists without any awareness of their own ageist and anti-Semitic bias. Absolutely unlistenable.

Very informative, but most importantly — FUN. Keep it up girls.

Love this podcast!!! I’ve always had a fascination with natural disasters and I have a fondness for disaster movies (especially B-movies). Fun and insightful discussions with great hosts. Love hearing high quality content led by incredibly smart and funny women.

Disaster Girls has become one of my absolute favorite podcasts. Jordan and Amanda love these movies so much and it’s great to see this genre getting the appreciation that it should. From huge blockbusters to made for TV campiness, they cover it all. I am a proud Disaster Diva and have become the annoying guy suggesting the podcast to everyone. I’m working my way through back episodes and cannot wait to get to The Core. Terranauts forever!

This show is alot of fun and if you pay enough attention you could learn something.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve become a huge fan of Jordan’s work. From her guest spot on This Ends at Prom to her Simple Favor podcast, I always enjoyed everything she did. So when I discovered that she had another podcast, I had to check it out. I was hesitant at first because I didn’t know how I felt about disaster movies, but by the time I finished the few episodes on movies I had seen, I was hooked. Jordan and Amanda (and Jason!) are absolutely hilarious. I’m still making my way through their old episodes but they’ve already converted me into a die hard fan of The Rock (as my roommate, who I forced to watch San Andreas with me, will attest). Love the pod and think it’s perfect for any movie fan even if you don’t think disaster movies are your thing.

If you miss that feeling of joy you got from sitting in a Denny’s (or some other comparable late night establishment), arguing and debating the complexities and reality of whatever disaster film you just saw with a group of friends, than this is the podcast for you. Love listening to these gals! It’s always nice to hear podcast hosts who are actually friends, and their banter is fast-paced and hilarious. Some I listen to after I watch the movie but some I just cut to the chase and tune in to the podcast. Honestly, that’s good enough for some of these disasters. Funny, warm-hearted, and charming.

Where do I begin? The banter is fantastic, the breadth and depth of the hosts’ knowledge of film floors me every time, Amanda’s laugh is infectious, Jordan has a voice that makes me wish she could narrate all my audio books, and Jason is that rare thing among podcasters - a dude who isn’t dead weight. Binge the whole archive, you won’t regret it.

This is such a good show. I love the movie discussions and the banter. It’s light and funny as hell. I’m a truck driver often laughing to myself as I ride down the road. This is a great show.

This podcast is a delight. The hosts are funny and smart and have a wonderful dynamic with each other, and the breadth of topics they manage to cover while technically talking about disaster movies is incredible. This is only sort of my movie genre to watch but it turns out it is ABSOLUTELY my genre to listen. This pod never fails to make me smile even on the gloomiest day, and I’m so happy it came into my life.

It took three words (disaster, movie, podcast) to hook me, but it took Amanda and Jordan and their funny, in-depth, and often surprisingly insightful take on this much maligned genre to make me a true fan. 5/5 Towering Infernos.

Hilarious and thoughtful takes on films from the oft-neglected disaster genre, I am legit hooked.

I listened for the first time to hear their take on Alligator, one of my favorites, and I smiled or laughed through the whole thing. They are fun and listening to their takes is so enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend giving them a listen, unless you hate fun. I can’t wait to see what other movies they’ll review.

It’s bad, just bad. It sounds like they listened to Johnny and Shane in Ireland and figured they’d just do one themselves. Come up with an original idea.

One of my favorite podcasts, Kill by Kill, recently recommended Disaster Girls and I am so glad they did! I have always loved disaster movies and I am so happy to be able to listen to these hosts dissect and expand upon each movie with incredible insights. The first episode I listened to was the Poseidon Adventure and I got so many awkward stares as I laughed out loud too many times to count on the NYC subway during an incredibly quiet morning commute. I’m just grateful I wasn’t drinking coffee because I definitely would have spewed it out on some business man as I chuckled! Thank you so much and I’m excited to keep listening!!

I love the entire podcast, but the "What's it really about?" section (where they discuss what is the subtext / themes of the movie) is fantastic! I look forward to listening every week; I try to watch the movie they reviewed and I'm enjoying those a ton too - thank uou Disaster Girls!

I work in corporate banking and I have the HARDEST time stifling my laughter while listening to this podcast at work. Jordan and Amanda are hysterical, witty, and beyond enjoyable to listen to. They bring a unique angle in the critiques to one of the most slept on genres in cinema. Also this podcast cured my blindness and I realized I don’t actually work in banking and I’ve been pressing keys on a broken keyboard the last 4 years... My wife left me, but thank goodness I am a disaster diva.

Not sure why I bothered to listen to this in the 1st place. Be warned, it is completely garbage, you’re better off listening to nails scratching against a chalkboard.
