Best Pro Triathlon Pod Out There
As an age grouper, I’ve always been politely interested but never very in tune with professional triathlon. My lack of engagement was partly a result of the difficulty in following/understanding what’s going on. When I heard about the PTO, I actively looked around to learn more about it and discovered this podcast at that time. It’s the best pod for keeping informed on what’s going on in professional racing. They are great about educating people about the ins and outs of the pro side of the sport. While I don’t always agree with their takes, I always feel like they are all sharing their genuine thoughts on any given subject. Love the pod, keep it up guys!

Love their enthusiasm for the sport
I wouldn't have done my swim today but for listening to the show. Their excitement for the professional side makes me excited for my amateur races.

    Love the show but
Does Talbot know that the plural of the word “woman” is “women?”
  • Six I’s
It is ingenious insider industry information
I appreciate that the contributors each bring their individuals strengths, which when combined, offer a unique perspective and it is done in an entertaining style.

    The Worst
Mark Matthews continues to be the worst, however, it’s a race to the bottom with this lot. Slandering YouTubers, athletes, bike companies. Yet, I’m sure they would be all about the bike if they were being sponsored by them.

    Tim Heming episode
Tim Heming episode-I really enjoyed it! Hearing about the different aspects from the journalists side of things was really interesting and I liked the conversation.

    Love the podcast!
The dynamic between the hosts and their opinions is just great. It’s relaxed and I feel like I’m listening to a conversation I could be part of. Not a stuffy over researched podcast that is reading from a script. It’s real, it’s raw and a good listen.

    Interesting perspective on pro racing
I like the roundup from all the different races that happened from ITU to Ironman. Though sometimes it feels like there are too many hosts talking over each other. Much better when there is only 2 hosts like the episode with Mikal which was great!

    Positive’ish feedback
Really do enjoy the show, love the banter. I am a fan of the sport as a prior participant, and this is how I keep up to speed. Only suggestion would be someway to not talk over each other, it makes it hard to understand/follow. Maybe become more adept at the mute button that we all use in our daily zoom lives. Then folks could hear what y’all say. Keep it up, I’ll be following regardless of your proficiency w the mute function

Review update after a year of listening.
I wrote a review over a year ago after the 2nd or 3rd podcast noting how the connections/insight is a nice presence to the world of Triathlon media and the show will only get better. Myself, like almost every other fan of this sport, tunes in every week for the sole reasons of 1)we love this sport and crave info/analysis (like the world of NBA, NFL, etc) and 2) it is literally the only outlet that is dedicated to bringing professional news/analysis to the viewers (unless I am unaware of other sources?). Every so often you all try to defend the podcast negativity by admitting you don’t know what your talking about, fake news, amateur hour, etc etc. My question is why? Why aren’t all of you striving to bring the best content available? It’s almost like you guys have so much inside information/thoughts that you purposely brush off a deeper discussion. There are countless times where an interesting topic will come up but you brush it off bc 1)you’re not prepared or 2)you don’t think people care when In reality people do care and are interested in deeper insight. Bottom line, if you compare yourselves to other professional analysis media outlets out there, you guys are way below what your capable of. You have this amazing platform and you’re butchering it. Do I hate listening to you guys, no, but it could be so so so much better(we’ll sometimes I do ;). If it’s true that you really don’t care about the quality (which you openly admit to.. not sure why?) then have a open forum where you figure out who wants to contribute to this amazing opportunity of growing the coverage of the sport and then make it happen. And Chelsea, learn long course. Guys, learn short course. Chelsea’s presence to the show is huge but she is wasting her opportunity of really making it special. You’ve got the keys to being the primary coverage and growth of Triathlon. Stop disclaiming that you are amateur hour and be better, please. Otherwise, step aside and figure out who wants to truly take the show to the next level. I don’t want my rant to get in the way of being appreciative of you guys starting and continuing pro coverage, but it’s now over a year into the show. It would be nice to see it go from amateur hour to something more organized and thought out. I know this isn’t your full time job, so maybe that’s the primary reason. Rant over.. hear you guys next week. 😐

    Best tri podcast out there!
Love the way all of the hosts share a different perspective/banter that comes along with it and have learned so much from Chelsea on the short course world!!

    Great pod
I love listening. Pat, Mark, Chelsea, Kyle do such a great job. Despite having Toolbag on the show, it is still one of my favorites.

    Entertaining info about Pro Triathlon
Love the pod! Audio could use some improvements, but it isn’t terrible. Loved being at the live episode in STG and hope you do more. Talbot/Kyle could you say “women's race” instead of “Female race”? You never say “male race” and it just sounds weird hearing female when talking about sports I don’t know just an idea!

    Great triathlon podcast!
Very entertaining discussions, I feel like I am in the middle of a conversation and catch myself agreeing out loud to points that are made 😂 I miss Chelsea when she is not there! 😊

    Great pod terrible audio
Headline says it all: great pod, terrible audio. Start a GoFundMe for audio tech and I’ll donate, otherwise we’ll all have Kyle’s voice soaring into our eardrums like a dagger forever 😂

Media coverage you didn’t know you needed
PTN is bringing the heat with what you need and want to know about triathlon. The goods, the bads, the lack of coverage by IM. Hear it all here. Let’s go!
  • CharmCityTri
    Triathlon New Aggregator
If you want a weekly triathlon/IM news aggregator this podcast could fulfill that role. There are times when some of the hosts have pretentious commentary-which is not my cup of tea. To each their own.

    Great listening
Love the conversation, great inside info, tons of opinions and entertainment. Mark’s comments and thoughts on PTO points are worth thought. Thanks for the podcast and keep it up.

    Awesome!!
Absolutely love this podcast, absolutely what triathlon needs. I hope you guys continue to grow and make it something big. Professionally though, please fix the audio levels for everyone. Get everyone the same audio headsets or something. Love it!

    Awesome but needs more Lionel
This is the best podcast on the earth at the moment. It would be even better if there was a dedicated segment for Talbot to talk about Lionel even more. I wish I could see the look on Mark’s face as Hot Takes gets replaced with the Lionel Sanders power hour. As I said, great podcast but it would be the best ever if you guys replaced Mark with Erin Sanders.

    Current Favorite Podcast!
I look forward to this podcast every week! The banter between Pat, Mark, Kyle, Chelsea and Talbot is entertaining and I especially like that they don’t feel the need to hold back their opinions. Adding Chelsea and Mark as permanent contributors was a great decision. Having guests jump in also keeps the show fresh and provides new perspective. I do recommend turning down the hot takes music just a tad so we can hear the speakers better.

    Not helpful for the sport
As a beginner to triathlon, I thought this podcast would help introduce me to the professional scene. I gave it a try but can’t anymore. There are too many inside jokes, phrases that aren’t explained and using only first names as if everyone knows who they are talking about. Another issue was posting the Olympic teams on Instagram before they were even announced ?? I’m still confused. Of course, the host’s comments on the posts only made fun of people’s confusion.

    Good content, show needs improvements
I enjoy the content and really enjoy having a show talk about upcoming races and a recap of recent events. I do think that things could be better and here are my 2 biggest suggestions: 1) audio levels - Kyle is 10x louder than anyone else and I’m constantly increasing/decreasing my volume based on who is talking. 2) Spend more/equal time on women’s racing as you do mens. You're giving WAAAAAY more time to men’s recaps/racing unless you have a woman guest. I think the best way to achieve #2 is replace one of the three men with a woman full time, or a rotating woman pro each week. I think Talbot should be the one replaced. He’s way to biased towards the mens racing and easily brushes off the women’s upcoming races/recaps more easily than Pat or Kyle. Also, after listening to the Yokohama episode don’t do picks again. I enjoy the show more when there aren’t picks for who you think will win.

    Good content
Would have given you 5 stars if you had just used Google on you last episode! Ever heard of Max Fennel?

    This is what Triathlon needs
Pat and Talbot bringing “inside the ropes” pro racing analysis. Truly a triathlon pro racing super fan show. While others just read the news, they are connected directly to the scene.

    Great podcast for triathlon community!

    LoFi
Besides the bro talk, not much else. White privilege at its finest with the shamelessness of little talent, nothing to say, and no preparation.
  • s4777
    Great content. Fix audio
Great content but please fix the audio levels. One of you is normal then the other one speaks and you are 10x louder and the music even louder.
  • Crossfit#4322
    Weak
Triathlon is in desperate need of a more dynamic narrative. The sport is dying and these guys need to find a way to make it exciting. Unfortunately, these 3 guys put me to sleep.
