Pod to the Rescue

46

Our society has a mythologically-based approach to bringing companion pets into our homes, which can lead to all sorts of conflicts, and sadly, failed adoptions. This podcast is for dog rescues, fosters, adopters, and dog lovers desiring to smooth out the bumps of adoption and rescue. Hosts Emily and Libby provide evidence-based information on how to assimilate dogs into our human lifestyles in a way that is a positive experience for all species involved. Emily is a certified professional dog trainer; and between them Libby and Emily have over 2 decades rescuing dogs (and a few cats!).

The Best Dog Podcast By Far
I’ve listened to thousands of podcasts on dogs and this one is by far the best I’ve ever come across in my many years. I myself am a world renowned dog trainer and I find even I haven’t come across many of the information discussed and dissected in this very well articulated podcast. Definitely give it a listen if you haven’t already.

    The Best
I am so thankful for this podcast. We brought home an sweet adolescent pittie mix from a shelter who he has turned out to be a little more socially awkward than we anticipated. It was been a tough adjustment, but we are working hard with an awesome trainer to help him improve his leash reactivity and some other over arousal tendencies. This podcast has been an amazing source for reinforcing our training. It’s not just about the behavior, the context of why we see certain behaviors has been a game changer for me. And to be honest, sometimes I just listen to feel less alone and encouraged. The simple reminder that it is okay to take things slower than planned has made a huge difference for us. I have scoured the internet and podcasts for different resources and this is the best for anyone bringing home a shelter dog. I’ve been happy to visit the website and links guests have provided too. I have recommended Pod to the Rescue to everyone I know. Thank you so very much. Words cannot convey how much this resource has helped my family.

    Rescue remedy
Pod to the Rescue is such a great resource for any dog parent but especially those living with rescue/shelter dogs who have often been through a lot before finding a home. Emily and Libby share their insights from more than 10 years in rescue with humility and compassion for both the dogs and the people who love them. Their interviews with leaders in the field of modern, science- based animal behavior and learning have been really helpful in dispelling some of the outdated and harmful myths that are still so prevalent in dog training.

Excellent support for adopters and others
I work in an open-admission shelter and do adoption and behavior counseling. I find POD to the Rescue to be an invaluable resource and refer others to it on a regular basis. Each episode contains science-based knowledge and humane support for anyone living with a dog, no matter if it's a new dog, resident dog, adult or puppy. There is something for everyone in this high-quality podcast! Emily, Libby, and their guests offer valuable insights on dogs along with practical advice on training and specific challenges one might face with a dog. I recently shared the Door Greeting episode with an adopter whose dog's behavior had been a challenge each time a guest would arrive. After listening to the podcast and implementing some simple changes in their routine, the problem has been resolved. The episodes on Decompression with Dr. Patricia McConnell and Understanding Arousal with Elisheba Fay have been particularly helpful to our adopters. I have been in the shelter world for over two decades and finding this resource has been a gamechanger in our efforts to support adopters and others.I am so grateful to Libby and Emily for helping create better lives for dogs and their people. Amazing resource!!
I started listening to this podcast as we were getting ready to put in applications for a rescue dog. I am so thankful for the quality content and advice that has professionals and science behind it! We weren’t able to get our new dog into training quickly because the shelter had been hit with kennel cough. This podcast really helped us get through those first several weeks with our energetic husky mix and now it’s one of my fave shows to help me keep learning as a rescue dog guardian. Thank you Pod to the Rescue!!

Super helpful for a new foster dog mom!
We just rescued and are fostering a dog as of last week and I decided to find a podcast rather than book to get advice on how to support and train this traumatized pup. I’ve only listened to 1 episode so far but I already learned SO much and have found the info to be super helpful and credible. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the episodes. Love this pod!
