These two are amazing together! Sharing great stories from their days of tours and festivals. The show just keeps getting better.

If you’ve run out of ways to insult your ears, you’re in luck! It’s like a lotto you always lose. The constant barrage of fart jokes would be better if they played the Jaws theme and shared intimately about life altering “shart attacks”! Notably absent are any references to vocally voluminous northern power bands such as Stratovarius, ReinXeed and Helloween. What the cuss, guys? Worst yet, they’ve defiantly refused to provide proof of their adherence to the faith lessons found in 1 Maccabees. And don’t expect a single moment of time given to exploring the migratory patterns of the long extinct Stellar’s Sea Cow. Weak. In truth, get ready for a lot of raw emotion, the messy life of faith in Christ in a screwed up world, great stories from the road and fart jokes.

At the tender age of twelve, my father took my and my younger brothers to Cornerstone Music Festival. The year was 1996. Somehow, my father allowed me to go see the Insyderz at their midnight showing at one of the Encore tents. Even though I have a visceral memory of being slammed up against the sweaty back of a rather well-muscled gentleman, what really sticks with me was the night that I became a true fan of ska music. Up to that point, I had only been to a Carman concert (R.I.O.T., duh). But now the world of underground Christian music was opened to me. This podcast has brought a lot of fun memories back to me. I look forward to every week’s podcast because you can just hear these different guys takes on life, music, ministry, faith and friendship. Sometimes it’s uneven but sometimes the stories are amazingly funny. It’s also fun to hear more about an album or song they created and then re listen to those songs with a different lens. Joe is a COVID-stricken, proudly thrice-divorced idiot who fronted one of the worst bands of the 90s. Reese is a loser who can’t hold down a job, likely because of his pronounced drinking problem, whose band just made the best album of the year. Together they form a team who can’t figure out how to record audio consistently on a podcast. Five stars

If you’re into reminiscing about the late 90s Christian music scene and aren’t offended by coarse language, it’s A+! Additionally, it’s one of the few pods that I feel the content behind a paywall is worth it.

They’re a bit slippery to wear but they taste great.

So, is this here to stay or will it be like “Reese explains the lyrics”. Come on. Don’t pull a Reese.

I don’t know where the actual pickle boot store is, but the podcast is fun to listen to. It’s a great mix of goofy humor and behind the scenes insight to two of Christian music’s most influential names in ska - the insyderz and five iron frenzy. I listened to both bands a lot growing up. FIF was a staple, and still is, in my music library. I was always eager to hear or read what the band members had to say about music or anything really. To hear Reese be able to allow us into some of that history and share deeper thoughts is great. To be honest, I didn’t know as much about the insyderz as a band beyond their first few albums. Maybe it’s because they didn’t make songs about half their band members? Who knows. But hearing Joe’s stories and insights about the Christian music industry is equally as fun and interesting. And both guys voices compliment each other to make a fun and interesting show. But... where exactly is the actual pickle shoe store?

Have you ever stubbed your toe?! Listening to this podcast is like doing it on purpose! 5 stars!!!! Can’t wait to stub my toe next week.

As a kid who grew up in the evangelical church I longed for an outlet to allow me to connect on a deeper level to an art form of some kind both Five Iron Frenzy and The Insyderz (and those damned OC Supertones) met me where I was and helped me navigate my conservative upbringing. To hear Reese and Joe talk about christian ska and other topics a couple hours a week (sub to the patreon) is really awesome.

Listened to the first 3 episodes. I want my time back. You guys should make a "Legends of Christian Ska" Coffee Table book with album art/ posters/ pictures/ and stories.

The Dennis Rodman story alone is worth subscribing to this podcast. Great job Joe and Reese! Also, I was there with Dear Ephesus when the yard of beef gave up the ghost and became a tube of mush that was eventually dashed all over the earth. Great hearing stories from back in the day! Keep going guys! This podcast is fun!

I was introduced to the five iron frenzy’s on a boy scout trip and am now waiting for the class action lawsuit to begin. The podcast is “meh”, soundtrack to get a vasectomy to.

This is the sound of middle aged Mediocrity. It’s both glorious and terrifying. To the dozens of us who loved both bands it’s amazing. I’ve subscribed to the beautiful train wreck, and if you’ve ever wondered what happened to the kid who got third place you should listen too.

I subscribed to this podcast to hear inside information about The Insyderz and Five Iron Frenzy. What do I get? A bunch of slander about the OC Supertones. How dare they drag those holy saints down to their level?!?! I guess I’ll stick around, just to see how much trouble they will get into.
