I have been searching for 2 years for the perfect approach to teaching new comers. I am a retired teacher living in the Houston area where new comers are plentiful. Beth Vaucher’s Equipping New Comers is compassionate and practical and can be adapted to target older students. Her approach removes the fear from learning a new language!

I recently have been Listening to this podcast and have found such great wisdom and knowledge on how to engage and successfully teach my MLL’s. I also just recently have been given the membership for equipping ELL’s from our district and it is a game changer!!!! Beth is such an expert in this area and such a lifeline for MLL teachers like myself. I am soooo thankful for all she does, for this podcast and the membership!!

Beth offers a wealth of knowledge about all things ELL! I’ve been following her work for over 5 years and have learned so much from her. Really helpful podcast for helping to set goals and focus on help students build confidence in language acquisition. My school is 83% multilingual learners and I was looking for a podcast that could help me plan for my students. My school once did SIOP Training, but once new admin came aboard we stopped using it. I first joined Equipping ELLs in fall of 2023. I renewed in fall 2024. All the materials are absolutely amazing. The podcast provides very useful extra support advice. I love listening to this podcast. This is my second year as a Multilingual co-teacher, and this podcast and the Equipping ELLs resources have made me feel much more confident and knowledgeable. I am always learning new strategies to share with my co-teachers and try with my students. I really loved the most recent episode, 156. Mastering ESL Lesson Planning: A Step-by-Step Path for Success. Which outlined how to set quarterly goals, follow a four-week cycle, observe and adjust lessons, and use the WIDA framework and language goals to help guide instruction. I just listened to the latest episode “The Language Lens for Content Classrooms” and found it informative and inspiring! I plan to read the book featured in the title to help me in my instruction and also in my path to gain my ESL endorsement. The ideas seem practice and doable, which I love! Ever since I heard my first podcast I’ve been hooked. I took a 14 hour trip to Florida over the winter break and listed to all your podcasts. I listen to them in my morning commute. I live all the information shared and the resources that come with each podcast!

I came across this podcast this past summer and binge listened to the episodes. Each episode is packed with informed information for an ELL teacher or teachers with ELL’s. The information is not only helpful but relevant and engaging! I’ve put many of the strategies I heard from the podcast into practice in my own classroom. I would definitely recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to learn how to support ELL’s better!!! ☺️

Teachers are always asking for help and suggestion when having an ELL in their classroom. Beth does a great job of sharing tips to share with classroom teachers so that the children can succeed.

I am not someone who likes listening to podcasts but I have gotten into the habit of listening to Equipping ELL’s while I’m working on other small tasks during the day. I almost always have to stop what I’m doing to jot down a note on something that was said because every episode contains practical and useful ideas for working with ELL students. I’m a coordinator for the English department at a school in the Dominican Republic, so I also get to share my new knowledge with my team of teachers. 10/10 recommend this podcast to anyone working with ELL students!

I’ve listened to the first three podcasts at least twice and I can’t imagine moving forward teaching my ELLs without implementing mindset shifts. I began volunteering as a tutor for an ELL student this year. The information from this podcast has been invaluable for me in many ways: 1. Providing a framework for when and when not to translate (love the free handout) 2. Reminding me to keep things simple and use routines to avoid overwhelm 3.
