    Episode re Israeli/Hamas ceasefire
I listened to the podcast with great curiosity and increasing incredulousness. Is it possible for an alleged news source to provide spread more disinformation in 9 minutes? First note, they discuss Israel “dropping bombs” on the same day ceasefire was agreed to without any mention that it was in response to rockets being shot from Gaza. The discussion regarding the nonsense Hamas casualty number of 46K+ “mostly women and children” casualties which is not only statistically IMPOSSIBLE given the demographics of Gaza but Hamas itself admitted that it does not have information to support even HALF of its casualty tolls (especially considering they always have numbers within moments of a strike unlike any other nation in the history of war games) but the UN has also confirmed that Hamas has not appropriately accounted for it alleged dead (spoiler alert - it bc they are combatants and/or a lie). The MOST INSANE minute was the discussion of Palestinians detainees being exchanged for hostages. Detainees? These are convicted terrorists. 2 of which are serving life sentences for mutdering a sleeping family of 5 in bed. The oldest child was 4.5 years old. Another proudly admits that raping and stabbing a 19 year old girl was “the greatest gift he gave Allah”. Detainees?? You discuss the Israeli “squeeze” without any mention of the TONS (literally) of aid that Israel has gotten through the border which every single NGO and UN group has admitted is being stolen by Hamas for financial gain or to simply increase the demonization of Israel? Bc god forbid Hamas be held accountable for their well documented decades length of human rights abuses against their own people. Who is served b this tragic miscarriage of journalism? Do not even get me started on the FIVE 2 STATE SOLUTIONS that have been rejected by the Palestinians. It was never about the land…You know that right?!? The responsibility of how long and horrible this war falls squarely on the West and this irrational desire to make sure that Hamas doesn’t take responsibility for any of their atrocities. But why? Make it make sense ….if I could give this podcast a less than 1 star review I would. Shame on you.

    Downturn since rebrand
I don't like the fluff episodes about horses loose in London, fax machines in Germany, etc. I prefer a more focused podcast feed. I have lots of podcast options. If I wanted a fluffy podcast, I'd go get a fluffy podcast. Please focus.

    Bring back State of Ukraine
State of Ukraine was an excellent podcast that kept listeners up to date on a variety of topics pertaining to life in Ukraine and Russia’s ongoing war on Ukraine. NPR rebranded the podcast as State of the World, which provides far less information about Ukraine. World events are important, of course, but NPR has many other ways to share that information with listeners. I only listen to episodes about Ukraine, and wish there was more coverage.

Will a controversial temple in India….
This is exemplary of literally the worst kind of reporting. The reporter not just paints an event in the color of her own views but also omits most important facts. Thus deliberately trying to incite animosity. Supreme Court of India is a fairly apolitical body and for this reason regarded highly by all communities. When this court decided on giving this land to Hindu’s for the construction of temple, it looked at the hard facts and not just what a group would claim as suggested in this report. Archeological survey of India had conducted extensive excavation of the site and found ancient Hindu relics pointed to this being the site of an ancient Hindu temple built on the site where Ram( a Hindu deity) was born. In 16th century that temple was destroy by Muslim invader and a mosque was constructed on top of the rubble. most remarkable in the construction of this temple is the continuous communication and support of Muslim religious leaders. They accepted that it is was one of the holiest site of Hinduism just like Mecca is for the Muslims. besides the mosque that stood on top of it was never used for prayers. That town has several other mosques that were used for worship by the Muslim population. (Reports suggestion that Muslims will have to go far away to pray is baseless). How the two communities came together for the construction of this temple is exemplary. It’s hard to understand the true motive behind reports characterization of this temple as controversial. Regardless, this report is in bad taste if not in bad intentions.

    Abandoning the State of Ukraine?
State of Ukraine is now State of the World: with much less coverage for Ukraine. Is the Russo-Ukrainian War no longer as important in the scope or world events? Why not offer both, State of the World as well as State of Ukraine? Or is this a decision to chase clicks and views?

What happened to State of Ukraine?
This used to be focused on the war and invasion of Ukraine. I’m not sure what happened, I didn’t subscribe to a podcast about the state of the world. In fact I can’t see Ukraine mentioned at all in the last 5 or 10 episodes. What a shame, I’ll have to unsubscribe and find another podcast about Ukraine.

    State of Ukraine podcast
I’m a little confused … did you change the name of the State of Ukraine podcast to, instead, State of the World? Or was State of the World a pre-existing podcast, and you folded State of Ukraine into it? All I know is I used to listen to State of Ukraine, and as of today (2013.10.12) it appears instead to be named State of the World. So if I continue listening to episodes chronologically, will I be hearing only State of Ukraine podcasts up until the episodes of October 2023? or will I be hearing old State of Ukraine episodes interpolated with old State of the World podcasts? And is the implication of the name-change that Russia’s war on Ukraine is over?? Because clearly it is not. Or is the implication that war is simply the state of the world now? That would seem like an unduly pessimistic assumption on your part. I guess I’m a little annoyed. There’s probably some bureaucratic, money-driven, “engagement and retention” rationalization for the name-change … but why not leave this podcast’s title alone? If you wanted a broader podcast of international news coverage, why not roll out that podcast while keeping this one as it is? Just baffling. Love the journalism, but all that your bean-counters and marketing strategists do invariably results in listener annoyance.

    One-sided coverage disappointment
I’ve been listening to NPR’s Ukraine news coverage for a while now for their unique perspective and news stories, but I’m disappointed with their recent more obvious one-sided coverage, particularly with the cluster munitions story. C’mon NPR. You can do better journalism.

    Consistent Information
Not all news outlets continue to cover the war in Ukraine, which is unfortunate. The war is not over and having this daily snapshot is important to stay informed. Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦

    LIES ALL LIES!
What is really going on is that everyone is drunk and having sex with each other. My wife is a stripper and I rarely see her in clothes normally I just see her butt naked

    Parrots Russian propaganda.
The most recent episode was a tired retread of how Russia merely needs security guarantees and all will be well. Nobody wants to invade Russia. It was a tired recitation of Russian talking points with no contextualization from neutral academics or analysts. Deeply disappointing.

    Not worth the time
This show is so sparse and doesn’t ever cover what really goes on. So frustrating. Thankfully European media actually covers this war and does a wonderful job.
  • ievg2358
    Too many Russian narratives
“Civil war in Ukraine in 2014”, “Conflict in Ukraine “, “ Ukrainians fighting in the cities which is against international law” - the amount of pro-Russian messages is astonishing.

    Great Reporting
All the hosts (standard&guest) do a nice job. The review below on 4/4/22 was posted by a racist clown who feels the need to disparage A. Roscoe because she doesn’t sound like 90% of public radio’s hosts that happen to be white. In fact, A. ROSCOE is an incredibly talented and super smart journalist who can report and host anything. Don’t listen to pathetic racist musings when they give only 3 stars for their own problem. Podcast is Just what you need! Great in depth reporting but short enough to give you what you need to hear. Love how they get stories from all over the country about the war.

    Critical reporting, done tastefully.
Covering all kinds of angles, focusing on the humanity and power struggle. On point. Thank you. 🙏🏻 p.s. I am confused by the few manufacturing a kerfuffle over the pod logo. By my eye, it aptly illustrates the invasion in context of two peoples with a long common history. 🤷‍♂️

    So important
I appreciate some of this info is collected and broadcasted by some people whoCould actually be prosecuted in the future if this major situation goes any further. Although I am contradicting myself in saying this I just want to let you guys know how much “changing the logo” would obviously help the people of Ukraine.I remember when I was in Afghanistan and the podcast reporting on my unit changed their logo all of a sudden the bullets stopped flying and all the bombs were duds.Come on people really change the logo is this what you came to write a review about I’m just on a rant and I never write reviews I simply just want an unbiased actual situational representation on what’s going on To this country whilst everyone is in art class.

4/5 would be 5/5 if logo was different
Good information and straight to the point. How many comments do you need to understand you guys chose a bad logo?
  • satahfad68
    Excellent, but…
NPR always gives me complete and insightful news that I trust. But I must agree with other comments about the logo. Please consider a new logo sooner rather than later.
  • I swear by it
Incredible, free, insightful news, Logo a non issue
The information here is incredible. This isn’t news one can walk outside and obtain. It’s hard hitting, up-to-date, boots-on-the-ground news which is brought to us sitting on our couches from a pool of journalists who some have risked lives to obtain It should be commended. Those harking on the logo seem to miss the point, while simultaneously seemingly unappreciative of the free insights provided. From a design perspective, the logo is a knockout, indicating in one picture a fractured state, a country being torn apart. It’s rather ingenious and I don’t think it’s rude or in bad taste. It conveys specifically what the content is, in a simple idea. If one is going to boycott or take a stand against a conduit for information, there should be an issue with the information itself, not how it’s packaged. From a design perspective, I can’t see how you would relate the content within any better. Now, if Ukrainians en mass have an issue with how it’s portrayed, then maybe listen to them but I’m pretty sure Ukrainians would rather you hear the content within then debate the logo out front. I doubt anyone could design a logo that echoes a country in the throes of a bombed out takeover attempt any better.

    Change your logo
Tried listening, but couldn’t stand looking at the logo and unsubscribed. The comments have told you this logo is offensive. By continuing to keep it, NPR seems out of touch…. Why hasn’t NPR changed it?
  • Hotdawgz
    Yes
#WithUkraine✊🇺🇦 I also agree with other people about changing the picture, maybe it would be cool if you just had a pic of the Ukrainian flag, orrrr you could get me to design a new picture… jk lol…but that would actually be cool…

A fantastic, informational podcast, with lots of good up to date news. BUT, the cover art is rather inappropriate at this time period and the state of the world.

Great idea, completely tone deaf logo
Please change the logo of the pod, it’s not cute to conflate these two flags as an illustration of an illegal and unjust invasion of a sovereign nation.
