SP2179A true voice for investigative jorunalismI value the comprehensive coverage and diverse narratives presented in your work.

BenhoniIndigenous40 Acres and A Mule, enlightening series. However unjust 200 plus years of African slavery is and should be addressed. Indigenous people were shoved aside and all their land was taken away. Not much talk about giving all the tribes back the lakes, rivers, and land they once occupied which was also taken away by white settlers and our government. Reservations are not much of a give back!

Bad game!!Top notch!Amazing investigative journalism always! Such a gift!

Definitely Nicole50 States of MindTerrific show: Giving voice to young women who are in the process of finding their power and moral compass. My only suggestion is that the amazing Al Letson share his platform with a woman who could have introduced this show. It gets old hearing a tremendous story on women supporting one another and themselves and then their stories are wrapped up by a male narrator. Not to denigrate Mr. Al Letson, who is fantastic, but let’s share the microphone.

ScooterP82Soooo biasedThe views expressed in “How Trump won the presidency, again” are the reason the dems lost. Racism, fascism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia are not the reasons they lost. These elitist interviewees STILL are treating those who disagree with them as absolute idiots.

pitchitfastEcho chamber of HateTo dismiss the popular vote across America as being driven by racism when a person of color has sat in one of the top two spots in our country is so off base. Deciding to disregard real issues and concerns of the economy, inflation, and immigration and labeling all trump voters as racist misogynistic bigots as a reason they didn’t vote for some one who was one of the most do-nothing VPs with the lowest approval ratings suddenly getting propelled into the presidential nominee seat without any kind of primary — you are blinded by your own self imposed victimization and view that anyone who didn’t like Kamala hates minorities and women. The democrats failed to put forth a viable candidate. This is not the hill you die on, sir.

katelin16post-election episodei love Reveal and usually think their episodes are incredible. i’m giving 4 stars because i thought it was very strange (and didn’t seem up to the normal level of detailed analysis that i love about the show) that none of the post-election conversation mentioned any of the factors that i thought were extremely influential in kamala and the democrats’ loss — namely, the refusal to denounce genocide and change course on the US’s funding of it (as the polling showed in swing states for months that huge percentages of voters supported an arms embargo and would be more likely to support her if she implemented one), and basically trying to cater to and capture the votes of centrists and republicans by running on platforms of policing, the “most lethal military in the world”, and immigration/border wall that were more of a republican platform... along those same lines, the dnc never allowed for a democratic primary, and forced a candidate onto the people that didn’t receive much support in her initial presidential run (with many concerned about her record as prosecutor in CA), so that was a baffling decision. with how important defunding the police and the genocide of gaza have shown to be for many progressive voters, i just wish those issues would have been addressed, analyzed, and discussed more thoughtfully, or at least mentioned at all. i definitely think racism and sexism played a part in the results (how could they not, ugh) but the substantive issues that matter to large swaths of the electorate - that were well known by the party for so long but were completely ignored in favor of an imperialist pro-war agenda - seemed to be a massive (and preventable) piece of the puzzle that was hugely overlooked. (for me it was reminiscent of the conversation in a previous episode about obama prematurely scolding/shaming black men for being ‘sexist’ for ‘not wanting’ kamala - rather than recognizing valid concerns of important constituencies and changing policy to match their demands, it felt like the party was ready to scapegoat folks for whom the gaza genocide is a red line)

omgztopLost a loyal listenerSo I USED to respect your content and coverage of events, topics, etc.; However, your recent, ONE-sided views and broadcasts have led me to loose trust in your shows ultimate objective, which I THOUGHT was to bring insight to topics that do not or would not have adequate coverage. This nonsense you have released during these last few weeks trying to instill fear in voters and your listeners is ridiculous and just following the democratic propaganda. I just hate that you guys went this route with your content and I’m sure I’m not the only listener disappointed. Good luck to you in the future.

CrystalashWay too partisanHard to listen to the recent takes on elections, which are such a departure from the usual thorough and in-depth reporting of this show. The narrow focus on identity politics and partisan talking points instead of the much larger economic and foreign policy issues under the Democrats since the Obama era sounds uninformed and apologetic. Please find some unbiased sources so as not to mislead your audience.

ScottyPNoregertsVery Bias and narrowTopics are good if not great, however the lack there of for an overall knowledge of good governance and economics puts a damper on the outlook. BOE should be abolished look no further than this podcast for clarity as to why.
-
Dishwasher listenerRed black and blueI was wishing for this topic to be discussed! Thank you Al and your team and co-reporter

LAZC93A Baby Adopted, A Family DividedThis episode is beautifully presented, brilliantly reported, and absolutely devastating. The way to help American children is to give the tribal nations the resources they need to thrive! They deserve far more than the United States and it’s people could ever give them. I will contact the Biden administration and urge them to strengthen protections for tribal families.

DelovesmeI’m hooked!I’m hooked by the 40Acres and a Mule series and I’m super excited about listening to more. This is so well researched, written, and presented. Balanced reporting allows the listener to critically think about the subject and draw their own opinions. This is thought provoking and fascinating. Thank you for doing such a good job!

.K.C.C.Phenomenal ProgramI’ve learned so much from this show, so grateful to WNYC radio for introducing me to it.

USA Mknitter40 Acres & a LieThank you for a lot of historical information on this subject of which I knew very little. I remember the reparations made to the Japanese in my part of the country, under Reagan, and realized how little I knew of their roundup and internment in the late 1970s. How was the calculation made for that particular reparation? To what “degree of consanguinity” was that made? Thank you for your great podcast of which I am a long time listener.
-
2GirlsRock40 Acres and a LieWhat a powerful show. Very sobering to listen to at times. I appreciate the two years of research and journalism that your team pulled together. We are discussing the 3 part series in our book club next week. I hope this discussion continues on and reparations moves forward for black slave descendants.

KTtheoneFantasticGreat host, great subjects, superbly told.

Curious and ConcernedDoes the music have to be so loud? The subjects are extremely sensitive and important, the reporting impeccable but does the music have to be so loud that it drowns the text and distracts from it? For those of us with baby boomers ears, it is intolerable. I love music, but, please!

FNOMINLYou can’t beat REVEAL……on investigative journalism! They leave no stone unturned! Truth is only enhanced by how well it is told! Thank you REVEAL!!

antoinette-CAThe Plague in the ShadowsWow! This episode was excellent! My senior thesis for undergraduate studies was on Chicanas/Latinas with HIV. I can recall reviewing medical journal articles on Latinos and seeing many gross generalizations & also the absence of information on women, much less Latinas. Thank you for covering this story! It was very powerful!
-
Filly Bu$terNot that current-Lots of Repeats since mergeThere are lots of repeats & broadcasts of other shows’ repeats since the merge with Mother Jones was announced. I think soon it won’t be around. Pity-it had been amazing.

CoCo Da MonkieCool showWell done! No one cares about the credits. Idk why you spend like 2 minutes rehearsing everyone involved in the production.

pianoKTKudos to compelling investigative journalism.Mississippi Goddam! Mesmerized by your thorough reporting on Reveal. Add to that the deep dive into another tragic loss of Billey Joe’s young life, bright future and how his family is robbed of redemption. My heart broke with their hearts @ the description of the death scene and how police prevented and ordered that they not cross the tape line to identify their son’s body. Goddam all those in charge that day. Eagerly awaiting more episodes. Thank you for opening our eyes and hearts.

LNel5Not greatInteresting topics, just have to see thru the bias. Not a go-to podcast for that reason. I plan to unfollow.

Chard VelaszDeeply moving human centered reportingEvery episode of Reveal has moved me to tears. I’ve never regretted listening to a single episode. They make me glad to be alive and want to do more to help others as long as I am still here.

frenchfriedveganGreat PodcastI always enjoy these stories and the highlight such important issues. Great journalism that gets the full story and asks the listener to draw their own conclusions.
-
no_saints_no_kingsFormidableRiveting, routinely devastating, and wholly necessary. “Reveal” sets the bar for investigative journalism.

J3CarlisleRepeat the same thingListening to an episode, and they are playing recordings are are easy to understand, but yet the reporter/narrator repeats the exact same line over and over. If he doesn’t have anything to add, he shouldn’t be inturupting. Also, the ep is discussing FBI trying to convince BLM protestors to assassinate a government official, but censors cussing, and the narrator apologizes. If you are willing to play people talk about murder, then grow up and let people hear the cuss words.

jmaisyA Must ListenAn important and necessary podcast
-
RioRio79Solid gold investigative journalismReveal and host Al Letson should receive highest honors for engaging, informed investigative journalism that is doing a major public service. For anyone interested in about going deep on the most important issues of our time—racial justice and freedom struggles, climate change, mass surveillance and tech monopoly, the capture of government by capital—listen to this podcast! And thank you, Al Letson!
-
RoryMcNeilMississippi GoddamThank you very much for the time and effort needed to report on this crucial story.
-
DJSugi1Mississippi GoddamI’m a seventh generation Mississippian…this series was incredible!! It’s on point in its discussion of how many white Mississippians approach race- I’m white and have had too many 🤯 conversations with family members who refuse to acknowledge the influence the past has on the present. I hope that someday this case is reopened, and that the Johnson family and Letson someday find closure, as well as the truth of what happened to Billey Joe Johnson.
-
TahoekariFantasticLong form journalism you can listen to. The work is so well done and the passion comes through. This is wonderful stuff.
